Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology care on a rotating schedule, managing active chemotherapy patients, off-therapy patients, acutely ill patients, end-of-life care, bone marrow transplant patients, sickle cell disease, and benign hematology populations.
Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary rounds with Hematology/Oncology and BMT teams to coordinate evidence-based, patient-centered care across the continuum.
Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments, interpret diagnostic studies, identify abnormalities, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Diagnose and manage complex medical and surgical conditions, prescribe medications, and deliver high-quality care in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
Implement clinical management based on laboratory data, diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic interventions, and oversee admission, inpatient care, and discharge planning.
Perform advanced procedures including bone marrow aspiration/biopsy and lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy administration.
Complete inpatient consults in collaboration with physicians and provide education to patients and families regarding new diagnoses, treatment plans, and disease management.
Obtain informed consent for chemotherapy and procedures.
Build and customize treatment plans in Epic.
Calculate chemotherapy doses and first-sign chemotherapy orders.
Identify, analyze, and resolve complex patient care issues to improve clinical outcomes and quality of care.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Provide ongoing patient education, preventive care services, and medication management.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to support achievement of institutional quality and safety metrics.
Support IRB-approved clinical research and trials through patient prescreening, ordering diagnostic tests, administering protocol-driven therapies, documenting outcomes, and ensuring compliance with trial and hospital protocols.
Assist in the education and clinical training of students, residents, and interns, including instruction in complex techniques and procedures.
