Assist surgeon in operative procedures such as; providing exposure, handling tissue, hemostasis, and suturing. Maintain sterile field, assist in positioning and prepping of patients for surgery, close incisions, apply dressings and perform other post op tasks directed by the surgeon.

• Review patient information, prepare instruments and equipment, participate in positioning, anticipate surgeon’s needs, provide direct surgical assistance such as retracting tissue and organs, assist in hemostasis just to name a couple examples. Promote patient safety, maintain certifications and skills, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Prepare the OR, maintain sterile field, pass instruments and supplies, assist with exposure such as retracting and suction as needed, perform surgical counts before, during, and after surgery to ensure accuracy.
