Artist Statement
My high school art teacher heavily inspired me and pushed me to pursue my degree in art. While applying to art programs I realized I wanted to teach art and inspire young artists in the same way my teacher had inspired me. I am an artist because I love connecting with others through creating and sharing art. I want to share my love of art with students and teach them how to use art as a means of expression. Creativity is an essential part of cognitive learning in children and helps to build SEL skills. I want to teach students how to use art to connect with themselves and others by expressing their ideas in a positive and productive manner.
