Provided care to a diverse population of 1200 veterans in the area, focusing on preventing diseases and sustaining healthy lifestyles. Bridged the gap between resources and the underserved area of our community. Worked collaboratively with doctors, social workers and other supporting staff while critically thinking to use an evidence-based approach to care.

Deliver outstanding and efficient care to patients with various diagnosis and manage care from treatment initiation through completion. Effectively prioritize assignments, execute care based on each patient's relative condition and delegate tasks to competent staff. Administer IV medications, including chemotherapy, and monitor response. Educate patients and family members on disease process, intervention and lifestyle changes. Precept student nurses and new hires, providing guidance and mentorship on hospital policies, emergency procedures and nursing best practices.

Managed elements of patient care from admission to discharge or transfer to other units. Performed various nursing interventions while remaining calm in high acuity situations, demonstrating sustained focus and problem solving in real time. Worked within interdisciplinary health care team to develop, implement and make adjustments to patient care plans, individualizing strategies and methods to improve health and meet recovery goals.

Assessed physical, psychological, physiologic and cognitive status of patients. Assessed patients to determine individual needs and develop care plans in coordination with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, including physicians, case manager and social workers. Implemented interventions, including medication and IV administration, catheter insertion and airway management. Administered pre- and post-operative care to patients with behavioral, physical and cognitive ailments relating to brain and nervous system. This unit was also an active epilepsy monitoring unit.
