Aurilia Moulton

Currently, I am attending Ball State University as a student studying Elementary Education with a concentration in reading. This is in hopes to one day join the teaching field specifically teaching primary grades (K-2). I have a high interest in working with students of all backgrounds and experiences and hope to create a classroom that welcomes all students. Outside of school, I currently serve as a dance instructor at Cole Academy a local studio of muncie. In this role, I teach ages 2-13 teaching a mix of mommy and me, preschool, elementary, musical theatre, and competitive dance classes. With the students, I specially work to foster a love for dance and building a basic understanding of technique. Alongside this, I also currently volunteer as a choreographer at Muncie Civic Theatre and Yorktown Middle School Drama Club. Here, I work with students of all ages to tell a story through dance. I also work alongside other creatives to bring each show and vision to life. In the future, I hope to work in a school system that allows me to foster both my love of teaching and the arts. My interests and goals include starting or working alongside the schools drama department in addition to my day to day teaching job. I would love to work for a school system, that is also passionate about reading and the new push of science of reading. This comes from my high desire to assist in student comprehension and understanding of text as an educator in the future. I believe reading is a vital to children and am passionate about literacy. I am thrilled to work in environments with high structure, values communication, and is working to make an impact for all but specifically our youth.
