As a Nuclear Security Officer, At Humboldt Bay ISFSI, I excelled in nuclear security, demonstrating critical thinking and excellent communication. Skilled in intrusion detection and perimeter patrol, I am advancing towards the Emergency Coordinator role, ensuring robust security measures and coordinating effectively in high-stakes situations. My proactive approach and reliability have significantly contributed to maintaining stringent security standards.
Currently, I am responsible for the overall operation of primary and/or secondary alarm stations during routine, emergency, and contingency activities. I monitor CCTV, plant surveillance equipment, and alarm systems to deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations.
I work with coworkers to test intrusion detection systems and ensure proper functioning, including surveillance and equipment inspections. I escort and observe individuals and property to prevent theft, irregularities, and unauthorized entry.
I perform foot patrols to ensure fences, doors, gates, structures, and buildings are secure, observe and report suspicious activity, and provide a visual deterrence. I verify the identity and authorization of all visitors.
I conduct searches of coworkers, hand-carried items, vehicles, and materials. I also perform security tasks in support of the Site Security Plan, Emergency Plan, and Safeguards Contingency Plan during routine, contingency, and emergency situations.
While I am not yet fully qualified for the Emergency Coordinator (EC) position, I am actively learning and in the process of assuming the role. I am fully qualified to serve as Security Coordinator (SC) during drills, exercises, and off-normal events. I receive initial emergency reports, direct responses from coworkers, and coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies. I ensure that security policies and procedures are followed during off-normal events.
I report off-normal conditions to supervision and/or relevant agencies. I lead or participate in shift turnover, daily operating reviews, duty rosters, and visitor authorization.
I perform compensatory measures and escort duties as directed, providing access control at fixed posts around perimeter entry/exit points.
I also handle site maintenance, including cleaning cameras, waxing intrusion detection equipment, and general upkeep of working areas. I respond to emergencies in accordance with the emergency plan, physical security plan, and safeguards contingency plan.
Additionally, I am fully qualified and currently performing all duties as specified in the training and qualification plans or post orders. I regularly participate in drills and exercises and maintain thorough documentation, including timekeeping, reports, logs, briefs, procedures, and self-assessments.
I look forward to completing my training and fully assuming the Emergency Coordinator (EC) role in the near future.
