I am a member of Midwestern Storm Trackers We follow and document severe thunderstorms, particularly tornadoes, in order to quickly warn the public about imminent threats to life and property We deploy probes in front of tornadoes to collect valuable scientific data in a mission to help studies advance the warning times before severe weather strikes an area We typically have booths at the National Storm Chaser Summit (NSCS) and maintain social media profiles to foster relationships with the public, scientists, and first responders We spread awareness via floats at parades, appearances on televised and web news, and we do speaking engagements at schools
