Hard work, dedication, and patience are what it takes to be a good worker, especially when it comes to working closely with clients or customers. As I’ve grown older I’ve learned more how to talk to a costumer, understand that they are trying to deal with an issue and that they just need someone to listen and help them. This also relates to coworkers, as they should feel comfortable talking to me and asking me for help.
My biggest achievement so far has been college. As a child whose family was impacted by the foster care system, I always knew I wanted to grow up and help people. In my high school years though, I didn’t give it my best. I often let my grades go and didn’t focus. I never thought there would be an opportunity for me to go to college. I started a year after graduating and I feel I’ve really learned how much hard work and dedication it takes to get to where you want to be. I now see myself growing even more in the future with the opportunities through my college and my colleagues.

The summer after my 9th grade year I volunteered at a nursing home. I would come in every Tuesday and read off bingo numbers for everyone who came to play. While it wasn’t much, it gave me a chance to interact with the older generation, learn from them, and get to understand them more.
