Work History

Teacher's Assistant

ISI Florence
Florence, Italy
01.2025 - 05.2025
  • As a part of my study abroad program in Florence, Italy, I was enrolled in a class that included volunteering as a teacher's assistant for 4 hours a week, allotting 40 hours from January to May 2025.
  • I spent 2 hours in a 4th-grade classroom and 2 hours in a high school English class. My role focused on helping Italian students improve their English language skills, primarily through conversation and engaging in interactive learning.
  • In addition to working directly with students, I collaborated with the teachers on lesson planning, contributing ideas to enhance the students' learning experiences. This has been a valuable opportunity to observe various teaching methods, understand classroom dynamics, and gain firsthand experience in lesson development.
  • My goal was to support these students' language acquisition while gaining knowledge and skills.
  • Through this hands-on experience, I am deepening my understanding of teaching, classroom management, and the challenges of working with diverse learners.

Classroom Assistant

Flanders elementary school
East Lyme , CT
10.2021 - 05.2022
  • Had the opportunity to intern in a first grade classroom, in order to also receive credit for a college class I completed in my senior year of high school. I visited the classroom once a week for an entire school year.
  • I was there to help the teacher and assist her with anything she needed help with. For example I would help the kids with their spelling, read with them, or just walk with them around the hall if they needed to leave the classroom for behavioral reasons.
  • My absolute favorite part of this internship was being able to build connections and relationships with these students that I will never forget. I also was able to observe them growing and learning for an entire school year.
