As a Varsity Cheerleader, I was able to help build a strong community relationship not only with my team but with the student body as well. Being flexible while maintaining order helps to set a clear image of how to better the collective while uplifting those around you. As an English instructor, I was responsible for leading small groups through lessons that catered to the needs and goals of my students. Things such as: Creating a classroom curriculum, assisting students with homework, projects, test prep, papers, and research were all skills I was able to strengthen during this program. While doing this I created a fun learning environment to keep my students entertained and excited to learn. As an Instructor, I utilized patience as some students would have trouble understanding the content given. I exhibited a positive attitude as a way to motivate students when they became frustrated by material they did not understand.
Participating in Varsity Volleyball has helped to refine the important lessons of patience, dedication, and perseverance. Having to navigate being a student athlete meant organizing my academic, social, and athletic life. I was able to learn how to make time for my studies while being a reliable athlete. My team was able to lean of my emotionally, physically, and mentally due to my consistency.
