Work History

Rehoboth Volunteer Dental Clinic

Fundraiser Coordinator/ Clinic Coordinator

Job overview

  • Went into the community acquiring gifts for silent auction, donors, donated food for breakfast and lunch, drinks, gift cards etc.
  • I also recruited players and worked deals with printing shops for banners and swag bags.
  • I coordinated multiple fundraising events.
  • Goal was always to have littl to no overhead cost. I achieved that goal each time.
  • Found, applied and finished grants on time helping with extra funding for our secretaries salary as well as to keep our lights on.
  • When the Clinic coordinator needed to be off on clinic days, I learned all about how it functioned and was acting manager that day solving problems and keeping the Dentist happy. Making sure tools were constantly sanitized and patients were calm.
  • Our clinic ran off of a sliding scale, we had days where we did financial screenings. I was a part of the financial screening part and decided what percentage, if any, the patient paid based on their financials and life stories.
  • I have always had a love for nonprofits, this job grew that love.

  • Had palliative and hospice discussions, helping patients get the best care to fit their current needs.
  • Many developed type 2 diabetes and some developed type 1. helped them with their devices, made reminders for BG testing if needed, and made sure they fully understood that while this wasn't a death sentence, we were going to have to make changes until they finished their chemo.
  • I organized a food pantry for our patients in immediate need. Teaming up with the Principal from a neighboring elementary school and asking the community for donations.

Arium Health Medical Center of Central Georgia

Customer Service Representative Emergency Center
01.2009 - 01.2011

Job overview

  • As a customer service representative in a busy level 1 trauma center, I was the liaison between families and physicians during trauma codes.
  • My role was to comfort and attempt to reduce anxieties for both patients and their families.
  • Handled deaths, most of the time being the one to break the news to the families.
  • In July they had the first years deliver the earth shattering news and I was given the opportunity to coach/train them in doing it in an empathetic yet professional manner.
  • Filling out the proper paperwork, coordinating with the coroner or complying and following chain of command for detectives as needed.
  • Found the identity of patients who arrived without identification and notified their families as quickly as possible.
  • Recognizing a need for tactile therapy among psychiatric patients awaiting placement, I wrote a grant, to gain funding for materials to meet the needs of this increasing population.
  • When the grant was accepted, I implemented a program, helping to reduce anxieties for our psychiatric patients and elderly with memory deficits.
  • Assisted the nurses and Doctors with turning insulin pumps off and scary enough educating them all the difference and treatment of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.
  • Explaining and demonstrating that if a diabetic comes in either way, they are not being combative, most of the time they do not need sedation. A calm voice with no panic, reassurance of being in a safe place and a nice big shot of glucagon or insulin usually calms people down, not always, but we aren't psych patients we are in fight or flight mode.
