Avi Libman

Brought new energy and excitement to a community in transition. Since my arrival, Beth El has grown from 200 to 600 families. The religious school has grown from 28 to 110 srtudents.

• Participated in fundraising to support congregational activities.
• Provided spiritual guidance to congregants and their families.
• Guided staff and volunteers in administering education, youth, social action and community building.
• Demonstrated effective leadership to synagogue, including managing daily operations, developing and administering annual budget and promoting compassionate pastoral care to members and public.
• Created and oversaw the first Young Adult Program in San Diego, including a honeymoon trip to Israel.
• Oversee the B'nei Mitzvah program and manage the tutoring staff.
• Led adult education discussions about current events from a Jewish perspective.
• Developed relationships with members of the congregation through pastoral visits.
• Officiated at all life cycle events.
• Collaborated with lay leadership committees to ensure that all administrative tasks were completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Delivered sermons on weekly Shabbat services.
• Taught classes on Jewish history and religion.
• Organized educational programs for adults and children in the synagogue community.
• Supervised religious school teachers and other staff members in the synagogue office.
• Maintained open communication with team members and stakeholders, resulting in successful project outcomes.

• Spent summer on a base in Newport, Rhode Island
• Trained to operate in the field as a chaplain providing counseling and facilitate ritual services for all faiths and denominations.
• Honorably discharged with a rank of Lieutenant.

• Planned special family holiday celebrations such as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
• Taught Bible and Rabbinic texts for the 7th Grade class.
• Served as a Advisor for the USY program.
• Delivered sermons and other pastoral needs when the senior Rabbi was on vacation.
