Merchandise Manager
PetSmart
07.2021 - 07.2024
I began working as a part-time cashier at PetSmart in July of 2021 as a full-time college student at OU. In 2022, I received a promotion to Associate Lead and later that year I received another promotion to my current position, Merchandise and Inventory Leader (MIL). One of the things I value most is being a team player stepping in wherever needed, as long as you're available, and learning new things to better the team.
As MIL, I am responsible for ensuring inventory counts are correct
I have to conduct weekly reports on our merchandise, excluding live animals, to ensure accuracy
We get trucks in twice a week and I am in charge of making sure they get done on time, as well as unloading and inspecting those loads
Delegating tasks to the proper employee to get POGs, planner, and trucks done, as well as keep the store and backroom up to standards
Part of my job is to be a salesperson for our other departments (salon and training), as well as promoting company-related things (Treats, in-store sales items, meeting quotas, conversions, etc.)
I schedule training classes and grooming appointments
I have experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, and other company applications
Since I am one of the managers, I take phone calls and deal with unhappy customers, and work to resolve their issues
Since I came in as a cashier, I understand the importance of maintaining a good relationship with all associates and ensuring they are heard
