Operator Technician

My duties as an operator technician at Williams consists of the following:

  • Meeting customers expectation by keeping engines running to continue the flow of natural gas through the pipeline.
  • Maintenance on valves, pumps, compressors, instruments, and other equipment used around the compressor station and valve sites.
  • Orientating contractors on our facility.
  • Writing general work permits along with confined space, hot work, LOTO, disable and bypass safety devices, critical lift, electrical safety, excavation and trenching, and JSA.
  • Handle projects such as anomaly digs, pipe replacements, valve replacements, and installing new interconnects.
  • Responding to one calls and locating buried pipelines.
  • Going online with the station PLC to toggle bits for device testing and to troubleshoot in the logic.
  • Testing, calibrating, repairing, and installing unit and station devices such as pneumatic switches, pressure, flow, temperature, and level transmitters, speed switches, thermocouples, vibration switches, I/P converters, and relief valves.
  • Checking clearances on piston, articulating, and compressor rod bearings.
  • Operating different systems at the station such as coolant, oil, fuel gas, power gas, ESD, EBD, and instrument air systems.
  • Test and calibrate ultrasonic and orifice flow meters.
  • Collect gas samples.
  • Pull stain tubes.
  • Inspecting tanks, containments, and hazardous waste areas.
  • Sampling oil and coolant.
  • Using maximo to complete preventive and corrective work orders, generate new work request, submit concern reports, and submit after-the-fact work orders.

ISC had the maintenance contract for Westlake Chemical at the time that I was working for them. I worked in the Poly III and Styrene units. My duties were as listed:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to work orders received.
  • Calibrate, test, and install various instruments including pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters, turbidity meters, PH analyzers, hydrocarbon analyzers, fire and gas detectors, and O2 analyzers.
