  • Black and Latinx youth affected by HIV : Experiences with suicidality builds upon an ongoing New York City (NYC) based longitudinal cohort study (CASAH; R01-MH69133; PI Mellins) and examines the effects of racism, living with a chronic stigmatized disease, and other psychosocial factors on suicidality among Black and Latinx youth (BLY) who are either living with HIV (BLYHIV) or who were perinatally HIV-exposed but uninfected (BLYPHEU).
  • Black and Latinx youth affected by HIV : Experiences with suicidality presented at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health Practicum Symposium.
  • Sociodemographic, structural, and psychosocial associations with attempted suicide among a longitudinal cohort of Black and Latinx youth affected by HIV presented at the 2021 Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (SSEA) Conference.

The Office of Research Development (ORD) is part of the Office of Sponsored Research Administration (OSRA) at MSM. ORD is charged with the responsibility of designing programs and activities to address translating discovery into health equity. Major ORD efforts push the needle of translating discovery into health equity through the use of team science. Evaluated the effectiveness of the activities of the Office of Research Development (ORD) at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM): the Scientific Seminar Series, including McNairy Science of Disease Seminars; Proposal Development and Grant Writing Workshops; and Grant Writing Boot Camp.

Project Imhotep is an eleven-week summer internship program supported by the Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention (CDC) Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) designed to increase the knowledge and skills of underrepresented minority students in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, scientific writing, and occupational safety and health.

• Morehouse College and Goodie Nation hosted a Health Hack-a-thon, where I pitched my health campaign entitled HIVE and won.

• Presented my Morehouse School of Medicine evaluation report and poster presentation at the CDC Showcase.

IBWC is a non-profit organization that provides HIV/AIDS prevention, education, testing, and counseling. Public Health Summer and Winter Intern. General consultation and collaboration with PrEP/Bridges staff and organization leadership. Worked as a patient navigator and conducted passive surveillance by submitting health reports to the Virginia Health Department. Implemented HIV /AIDS initiatives and other non-profit programming.

Bloomberg School of Public Health Black Graduate Student Association- 2022-2023 Vice President & 2023-2024 President

  • Dedicated to the enhancement of the graduate experience for Black students. These efforts extend across the entire spectrum of the graduate experience, including the transition from undergraduate to graduate school, providing academic support, networking and career opportunities, providing opportunities for fellowship, and creating a safe, inclusive intellectual environment. I seek to expand, diversify, and advance the knowledge of all Hopkins students by exposing the Johns Hopkins community to events and programming that celebrate Black culture and address issues relevant to the Black community.

Mailman Trauma Free NYC Student Advocate Group- 2020-2021 Vice President

  • Promoted cross-disciplinary interprofessional conversations about trauma-based research and practice. Created service learning experiences for graduate and undergraduate students in partnership with community groups and external stakeholders. Conducted annual speaker events to increase public awareness of the factors associated with ACEs and trauma experienced across the lifespan.

Mailman Resilience, Inclusivity, Solidarity, and Empowerment Mentor Program- 2021 Mentor

  • The Office of Diversity, Culture, and Inclusion and the Office of Student Affairs offered a robust peer mentorship program for Mailman students. As a second year mentor, I was able to facilitate guided conversations, community experiences, and leadership development workshops for first year students.

Mailman Bloom Girls Mentoring Program

  • As a mentor, I provided mentorship to girls and young teens in the Washington Heights community of northern Manhattan, specifically at Community Health Academy of the Heights (CHAH). Bloom aims to increase awareness of health careers and increase health knowledge via weekly day group sessions, offsite visits, and hosting guest speakers.
