When June 1, 2024 arrives, I will have retired from the US Navy. I have served as a pharmacist for the US Navy for 20 years. I plan on continuing to serve beyond the Navy and wish to to help patients, my colleagues, and subordinates to the best of my abilities. My time in the Navy has taught me valuable lessons, from treating patients, to working with colleagues and subordinates, to mentoring, to the business side of healthcare.

Collaborated with Marshall Islands Hospital to enhance ASP practices; educated staff on 9 best practices, leading to a 30% increase in adherence to ASP guidelines, contributing to global ASP efforts.

- Expertly orchestrated the procurement of 9 vital line items of vaccines and medications worth $51k from Tripler Army Medical Center; diligently coordinated their delivery to increase the success of the PP24 mission. Oversaw the donation of 52 medications worth $11k to Solomon Islands Hospital, fostering goodwill in support of global humanitarian efforts.

- Pioneered the formulation and verification of infusion pump parameters for 65 essential intravenous medications; successfully mitigated prevalent medication administration risks, elevating patient safety standards onboard the T-AH 19 platform. Harmonized 173 intravenous injection meds with DHA guidelines, resulting in an impressive 100% accuracy rate, ensuring unparalleled healthcare delivery for all patients.

- Continues to be a pharmacy SME on the BUMED Family Planning Community Board by providing important pharmacy information in generation of an informational pamphlet to be used by recruiters nation-wide to instruct and advise all USN and USMC recruits.

- Leading the Shelf Life Extension Program and medication inventory for over 9,000 medication to ensure CBRN and anti-terrorism postures for 48 tenant/organizations and 14 FDNF (Forward Deployed Naval Forces) commands.

- Directed 120 staff as the MEDIG clinic champion, oversaw 31 programs to ensure compliance and best practices.

- Led efforts to streamline a new pharmacy discharge plan for Inpatient Medicine, Surgery and Critical Care Wards; this ensured that medication reconciliation was completed in collaboration with providers and pharmacy staff upon patient discharge.

- Volunteered TAD support at a MHS Genesis EHR roll-out test site to minimize staff and patient care impact.

- Fiscally astute leader, led a pharmacy cost avoidance of $850K in pharmaceutical savings; this was the highest percentage of the savings goal in the entire VA mid-west region.

- As the newly appointment Command Medical Inspector General Coordinator, expeditiously led multiple managers in ensuring command preparedness of 69 programs in under three months resulting in an extremely successful FY19 inspection.

- As the All Hazards Emergency Cache Manger (AHEC), directed both VA and DoD emergency caches consisting of 82 item types, 458,946 line items consisting of drugs and supplies, ensuing command catastrophic readiness.

- Tiger Team lead for Pharmacy Flow in the Hospital Incident Command System which involved patient movement at the Main Pharmacy and the branch clinics.

- Led the management of key medications and placement of N95 masks into the Pyxis machines throughout the entire command. This helped to minimize the newly stood up respiratory clinics at the main hospital and 2 branch clinics in response to COVID -19.

- Tracked critical paralytic and sedative medication inventory in order to plan and prepare for anticipated COVID- 19 patient surge scenario.

- Promoted the use of Tricare Mail Order Pharmacy (TMOP) to the providers resulting in doubling the usage of TMOP (originally 79 TMOP orders from the previous detachment to over 200 TMOP orders with current detachment) and a total cost saving of over $20,000 annually.

- Kept providers and support staff up to date with respect to the major pharmacy components of MOD10 to CENTCOM’s deployment policy, unavailability of drugs due to manufacturer back orders, CENTCOM aspirin policy, heat injuries and the medication that may lead to that, and proper primaquine chemoprophylaxis dosing.

- Trained 2 newly graduated active duty pharmacists in anticoagulation protocols further amplifying staff for the anti-coagulation clinic.

- Fleet liaison pharmacist. Provided over 1,000 medications for over 600 sailors for the USS Nimitz. Also supporting fleet readiness, he coordinated pharmaceutical readiness for more than 6,000 sailors comprising the USS Ronald Reagan and Carrier Strike Group 7 by ensuring all patients with chronic illnesses were deployed with adequate medication supplies. This also included providing over 1,000 medications that were prepared and dispensed for the USS Pinckney (DDG 91), USS Cleveland (LPD 7), USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), and Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Five ensuring deployment readiness for over 500 sailors.

- Spearheaded efforts to increase Command reporting of adverse drug reactions. This involved investigating medication reactions, analyzing trends, and providing data summary to the P&T Committee.
