Photoredox-Catalyzed Divergent Radical Cascade Annulations of 1,6-Enynes via Pyridine N-Oxide-Promoted Vinyl Radical Generation. (IUPUI)

  • Synthesized series of 1,6-enynes substrates for screening.
  • Purified and characterized series of cyclopropane-fused hetero- and carbo- bicyclic, tricyclic, and spiro-tetracyclic compounds.
  • Developed vinyl radical cascade reactions which provides a metal-free and new protocol for the synthesis of molecular complexity.

Photoinduced Site-Selective Functionalization of Aliphatic C–H Bonds by Pyridine N-oxide Based HAT Catalysts. (IUPUI)

  • Developmed pyridine N-oxide derivatives as effective photoinduced hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) catalysts.
  • Screened series of site-selective C–H functionalization reactions, optimized the yield up to over 90%.

Organic Photoredox Catalyzed Direct Hydroamination of Ynamides with Azoles. (IUPUI)

  • Developed a direct method to construct a diverse of (Z)-α-azole enamides from ynamides, pyrazoles, triazoles, benzotriazoles, indazoles, and tetrazoles.
  • Provided a photocatalytically synthetic route to heterocyclic derivatives common in medicinal agents.

Bis(imino)pyridine Iron Complexes for Catalytic Carbene Transfer Reactions. (WKU)

  • Developed and synthesized various of bis(imino)pyridine iron(ii) catalysts.
  • Evaluated a series of bis(imino)pyridine iron(ii) catalysts for the cyclopropanation reaction.

ortho-Alkylation of pyridine N-oxides with alkynes by photocatalysis: Pyridine N-oxide as redox auxiliary. (WKU)

  • Developed photocatalyzed ortho-alkylation of pyridine N-oxide with ynamides and arylacetylenes.
  • Provided a convenient access to a variety of α-pyridyl functionalized carbonyls and derivatized arylethylamine compounds.
