Supervises shift operations on communication center floor, provides direction and assistance
when necessary answering and processing calls for service, ensures notification of
communications center and emergency coordinator when required. Assists management with
training and position assignment, ensures that policies and procedures are followed, initiates
disciplinary action as appropriate and notifies management if policy, procedure, and shift issues
arise. This position requires a strong, team oriented individual who can supervise, develop
and utilize personnel to meet the objectives of the organization. We also serve as the primary watch officer, ensuring initial EMA and PEMA notification
utilizing Web EOC, paging software, and other appropriate technologies.
Receives 911 emergency calls, evaluates the circumstances and provides appropriate
responses. Provides pre-arrival instruction and dispatches emergency services/fire/police as
necessary. Coordinates response of emergency services. Provides support and resources to field outlets. Provides radio communications for police, fire, EMS units. Pages on-call personnel for County/municipal agencies when needed. Maintains confidential files and procedure records and log sheets for department. Operates computer and technical equipment, and provides basic equipment maintenance. Interacts with general public, government and public agencies, department and field staff. Enters incident information into computer files. Processes various forms, reports and other department paperwork as required.

2017 Pennsylvania State EMS Communications Award
Each year, the PA Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, with the assistance of the PA Emergency Health Services Council (PEHSC) recognizes individuals, groups and organizations that have made a significant contribution to Pennsylvania's EMS system. Award recipients will be recognized at the 40th annual PA State EMS Conference in Lancaster, PA.
