Since the age of 14, I have been working for a moving company in the summers. What this job lacks in technical skill, it makes up for in character building. I've always been proud of my ability to continue working for such a physically demanding and exhausting job.
Like my moving job, this job gave me valuable experience doing manual labor.
After working in the Kitchen for so long, I wanted to broaden my work horizons, leading me to be a server assistant at a high-end restaurant. This job helped me improve upon my personability at a young age, as I encountered face-to-face customer interaction.
This experience provided me a jumping-off point in my young business career. This hybrid internship showed me the ropes of finance and accounting at a fairly large tech company. I had the opportunity to attend an executive board meeting, which gave me valuable and inspiring insight into the corporate environment.
Stock Portfolio
I have been managing my own, independently funded stock portfolio since I was 10.
Digital Marketing, PCCAPS
Affiliated with my highschool, the CAPS program had a partner and I work closely with the marketing team of the local recycling center. Together, we produced various digital marketing deliverables to enhance our online presence and increase volunteer turn-up at clean-ups. Our end-of-year project presentation was voted the best for public speaking by a panel of local businessmen and women.
Camp Kelley, Kelley School of Business
I had the opportunity to spend a week with fellow rising freshman at the Kelley School gaining valuable advice from upperclassmen and even participating in business case competitions.
Cross-Cultural Management, Manchester, UK
During this two week study abroad program, I learned how to best navigate and understand cultural differences in a business environment. We visited historical Manchester sites to not only learn, but observe the amazing "working-bee" culture of Manchester. Some other notable things we did were learn about the importance of culture from members of the Manchester United organization, sat in on a business festival, and listened to a guest speaker from the Alliance Manchester School of Business.
