As head manager of the Webster Groves Aquatics Center, every aspect of the facility was my responsibility. It was my job to maintain a safe chemical balance, and ensure the mechanics of the pool remained intact. Besides keeping the pool running, I was in charge of day-to-day lifeguard staffing. In this position, I was the boss, leader, and teacher of kids my age or a couple of years younger, as I led my guards through correct procedures and training throughout the summer. Any issues with patrons or between guards were directed to me, and it was my responsibility to resolve the problem. Because of the nature of the job, I was on call for emergencies, and many times I had to answer such a call.
