I have been in customer service since the age of 15. I started in fast food, video stores and then banking. A family friend helped me get a job as a receptionist. Within a year I worked my way up to sales and after several more was promoted to the sales manager in an apparel department. I worked for a corporate shop that provided business's with all of their advertising needs. Logo design, printed goods like apparel, letter head and business cards, car lettering, wraps and more. It was exciting and always changing. We had an art staff that created custom art for race cars, t shirts, logo's, signage and then for larger scale jobs like planes and billboards. Every job was different and I loved working with customers and helping them bring their visions to life. I worked for this company for about 7 years when I was laid off.
I never planned on bartending being my career path. It just fell in my lap after my lay off, it was supposed to be temporary. I am thankful for the time it allowed me to be home with my children. It gave me the flexibility to be there during the day to attend all of their programs, concerts and sporting events. I love my customers and they love me. I have made many relationships that I hope last a lifetime. However, I feel It is time for me to move on. My children are old enough to look after themselves and I would like to find a new career path, one that will take me all the way to retirement.
