Job Duties include:

• Analysis of blood and bodily fluids with laboratory equipment to assist physicians in accurate diagnosis of disease in pediatric patients.
• Collection of venous or capillary blood via phlebotomy or finger/heel sticks from pediatric patients
• Operation and maintenance of Sysmex Hematology analyzer, Piccolo Chemistry analyzer, Cepheid Covid, Flu and RSV analyzer, Alere Strep analyzer, iStat Chemistry analyzer
• Microscopic examination of urine, cerebral spinal fluid, and peripheral blood smears
• Microscopic examination of urine for detection of yeast and trichomonas
• Microscopic examination of anal specimens for detection of pinworm infestation
• Testing of blood for Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
• Kit testing specimens for Mononucleosis, Pregnancy and Occult blood
• Preparation of blood and bodily fluid specimens for safe transport to specialty laboratories outside of our facility
• Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information to conform to HIPAA, internal and other regulatory standards.
• Maintaining strict aseptic fields when collecting biological samples, minimizing staff and patient infection risks.
• Monitoring and recording of laboratory temperature and humidity to verify proper environment for laboratory equipment and supplies
• Auditing laboratory test charges in patient charts to ensure proper billing.

Resource Pool MLT, traveling to various Physician's offices and Urgent Care Centers in North Georgia to perform laboratory duties as needed.

Job Duties included:

• Phlebotomy and finger stick collection of venous and capillary blood from patients of all ages, pediatric to geriatric.
• Analysis of blood specimens via the Emerald Hematology analyzer
• Analysis of urine specimens via the Clinitek Urine analyzer, and microscopic analysis when necessary
• Measurement of HgA1C in diabetic patients
• Detection of strep, flu, pregnancy and occult blood via kit testing
• Collection and Processing of Urine for Urine Drug Screening
• Preparation of Blood and Urine specimens for transport to facilities outside of the Physician's or Urgent Care Labs.

Worked as a Laboratory Generalist in the Hematology, Chemistry and Urinalysis departments of the Hospital Lab. This included instrumental and microscopic evaluation of blood, urine, semen and cerebral spinal fluid.

Worked in various departments of the Uranium Enrichment Plant. Medical experience there included performing yearly and pre-employment physicals.

• Testing of Gaseous Uranium specimens for measurement of uranium content via Spectrophotometers
• Cleaning and storage of Instruments and Tools
• Care and storage of Chemicals used for collection and analysis
• Decontamination of Uranium Waste Material and preparation for long term storage.
