I have been playing chess for almost 9 years now, and it is one of my favorite hobbies. I like playing chess competitively at tournaments, however, I also play chess online in some of my free time. The reason chess is so important to me is, its taught me how to think ahead in real life situations. But, chess has also taught me to be competitive, which has helped me win games. However, its taught me that loosing is just as important as winning when getting better.
