Benicio Pardo

Nashville,TN

Summary

I am currently a student enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University studying philosophy, music, and Spanish. I started when I was seventeen years old after graduating Nashville School of the Arts where I studied guitar, songwriting, music theory and audio engineering. I am currently looking for a job that I can do during the summer and school year that would allow a schedule where I could still attend classes and be able to work part time. Throughout my job history, I have been able to get along with any type of person, have been very hardworking and have never had any problems with management or customers. I am dedicated to doing a good job in my work life and school life and would be a valuable employee for any establishment wishing to hire me. I am quick to learn and able to adapt to any type of work environment as long as there is respect between employees and their management.

Work History

Door, Bar, Programming and Social Media

DRKMTTR Collective
Nashville, TN
10.2021 - Current
  • I started working at DRKMTTR Collective when I was 17 doing door and booking shows. When I work door, I take people's money, give them tickets, check their ID, and stamp their hands. This also requires me to stop people if they have previously done something to make DRKMTTR an unsafe place and prevent them from coming inside the venue. At the end of the night, I typically mop the floors, clean the bathrooms, and take out the trash before leaving.
  • My favorite thing to do at DRKMTTR is the booking side. It requires me to get together a show for touring bands and contact local music groups and ask them to open for them. This is my favorite thing to do at DRKMTTR because I love to network and get to know bands as well as create a fun environment for concert goers to find and see cool bands they might not have heard of before.
  • When I work bar, I typically start by making the vegan biscuits that we sell at our venue and get everything prepared for the night. Then, I take people's orders and bring them whatever food or drinks they order. Then, at the end of the night, I collect the money made at the door and take out DRKMTTR's cut. Then, whatever is left, I divide up between the bands, prioritizing the touring band since they will need the money to continue touring. Finally, I take the money made from tips at the bar and evenly divide that up between all the employees working that night.
  • Running the DRKMTTR Collective Instagram account requires me to stay up to date with the shows that are going on at DRKMTTR and regularly post them so that people know what shows are coming to DRKMTTR and when they will be. This also requires me to repost any videos from previous concerts as well as engaging with our followers.

Cashier

Southern Thrift
Nashville, TN
04.2021 - 10.2021
  • I started working at Southern Thrifts as a summer job in 2021. At first, I started by sorting through the merchandise and putting them in their respective areas as well as cleaning the store.
  • About a month into working there, I was assigned to be a cashier, where I took people's payments and checked out their items. I would also do the intercom if anyone of our employees or customers needed anything. At the end of the shift, I would typically go through the receipts and count up the total amount made at the store during my shift.
  • I also moved any heavy or big items that the customers could not carry to their car and made sure they were securely attached or placed in their car.

Restaurant Waiter

Voodoo Gumbo
Nashville, TN
12.2019 - 03.2020
  • I was hired here when I was fifteen years old and I worked as a waiter/front of house person. This required me to serve any gumbo that was made and make sure that the presentation was adequate as well as run any food out that was made in the kitchen.
  • I also cleaned the restaurant before and after every shift and made sure that the restaurant was ready for the employees who arrived in the morning to prep and for the customers who were coming in throughout the day. I also cleaned and refilled the soda machine to ensure there was no contamination.
  • I would do prep work when I could such as washing dishes when the dish washers had too much on their plate, organizing silverware, and grabbing all of the dirty dishes that were placed by the bin next to the trash can.
  • I had to quit at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic because I was living with my grandmothers who were both high risk.
