Summary

My most recent project involved the creation of a series of machine learning models that can quickly identify chemical structure from HSQC NMR data. The project was pitched to me by a chemistry professor with very little direction. From start to finish, I completed every step with very little assistance. I procured all of the necessary data, tailored it to our needs, stored it into a database, trained over 800 models from it, and implemented them in an efficient user friendly way. I have an immensely strong grasp of everything that goes into a machine learning project and am willing to put in as many hours and as much effort as it takes to finish a project with impeccable quality.

Work History

Researcher in NMR Machine Learning

University of Nebraska-Lincoln
07.2024 - Current
  • Spearheaded the creation of a series of machine learning models that can identify over 800 common human metabolites from Two-Dimensional Heteronuclear Single Quantum Coherence (2D HSQC) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data.
  • Created a seamless method which takes new training data and automatically trains models for new compounds.
  • Created a very easy and efficient data input method for researchers to use.
  • Working to implement the identification models into a commonly used NMR data processing package called 'MVAPACK'.
  • Will be the first author on a paper regarding these new identification models. This paper will likely be submitted for publication in the spring.
  • During a previous tenure with Dr. Robert Powers' lab coauthored 'Phosphorus NMR and its applications to metabolomics': a paper which pioneered a protocol for 31P traced NMR in metabolomics. This paper can be found at the following link: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8327684/#:~:text=P%20NMR%20offers%20significant%20benefits,energy%20metabolism%20and%20cell%20signaling.
