3rd Grade Elementary Teacher

STEP Academy
08.2023 - 05.2025
  • I worked at a charter school called STEP Academy. This was a 100% Muslim and Somali school. I worked with 21 students my first year and 16 my second year. My job was to Implement differentiated instruction that helped meet individual student needs. This at times was challenging with a student body of over 50% ELL students.
  • I was able to guide the learning process through use of clearly established goals and objectives to meet student and district goals and objectives.
  • Poor behavior was a big challenge the school faced. I was able to manage classroom behavior through strong and consistent expectations, clear rules, and motivation based rewards.
  • You cannot have strong classroom management without building a positive environment first. I was able to do this through open and honest communication. Along with building a level of respect for both students and staff. Pushing community driven messages.
