Hello, I currently am attending Heartland Community College studying criminal justice. I attend on transferring to Illinois State University next semester. I enjoy staying busy on my feet, socializing and meeting new people. I consider myself fast paced and am always on the go.
I am a lifeguard at the YMCA, I open the pool every weekday morning. Responsibilities entail watching over the patrons, making sure you're alert on the radio if there is an emergency. Cleaning up and making sure the pool is in safe conditions during my shift. I have recently gotten a raise there for my. performances, and I am in an ongoing discussion about talking with my immediate supervisor, Will Kent. I am in a running to become a supervisor which entails a specific responsibility to each supervisor. For instance, one supervisor is in charge on handling swim school, another is about in services, etc. So this is a step in my aquatics job.
I was on the media team intern. I worked with in a team with other interns to shoot videos from interviews to promotional videos, etc. Big Tent Coalition was a non-governmental organization, we helped some board members run again for their terms in their associated district. I also helped in another internship spot that involved walking from door to door, and asking patrons if they vote by mail. In our efforts, we tried to ask and give patrons the option to vote by mail for the republican party. We also did a lot of computer work that involved putting data into a spreadsheet for our managers to move forward with. I enjoyed the job and I enjoyed the impact I was trying to have every shift.
I worked as a server in another restaurant called Brickstone Brewery & Restaurant. It was another good learning and fast paced environment. I enjoyed my time there, I only worked there for a summer when I was back from school. I left Brickstone at the end of that summer and have not been back since.
Some things that I dealt with on an average shift:
I was a server for Texas Roadhouse, I enjoyed the interactions I encountered everyday. I had the responsibilities of making sure that my customers were taken care of, doing what I can to make my customers were experiencing a good meal. Also had the duties of doing side work, which was little things like cleaning up back in the kitchen, setting up everything, etc. It was a good work environment, It was a job you can see something new everyday. I enjoyed how fun and faced pace it was, always moving on your feet, I liked having the interactions I had.
I was a line cook at Olive Guard for my freshman year of college. Learned how work in a team environment and stepping up to fast paced workspace. Paying attention to detail is important in this duty.
