• One of the top fitters in SteelFab Spokane's Bay 1 section
• Fits most material that comes into the shop but is primarily a column fitter
• Measuring, layout, clean-up, and cutting copes and rat holes is a common practice while fitting columns and beams
• Parts vary in size and occasionally uses overhead crane to hang and set heavy, oversized parts
• Parts are tacked on and welded using FCAW
• Occasionally welds out fit-up members and uses carbon arc to remove weld when needed

• Use of various structural tools such as spud wrenches, pry bar, bull pins, wedges, and hammers
• Basic layout tools
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and plans
• Erecting steel columns and beams for tin can building
• Rigging and signaling
• FCAW and SMAW welding
• Operation of heavy machinery such as man baskets, scissor lifts, and sky traks
• Installation of girts and purlins on building using spud wrench, impact gun, and ⅜” by 1 ½”-3” bolts
• Installation of wall sheets using impact driver to screw them to girts with driller screws, and screwing the laps together with stitch screws
• Insulation, simple saver, and banding installed on inside walls of building and ceiling/roof of building
• Installation of roof sheets using similar process as wall sheets
• Fitting and cutting metal door trim pieces using sheet metal snips and framing square for man doors around building
• Packing and tying rebar
• Demo and reinstall of overhead crane girder beams
• Use of gas powered metal saw to cut crane rail

• Reading/interpreting blueprints
• Shop math
• Basic layout tools (Tape measures, squares, chalk lines etc.)
• MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW welding
• Fabrication and installation of custom steel projects in residential setting (Gates, handrail, stair cases, pergolas, cladding etc.)
• Fabrication and installation of structural steel members
• Building custom jigs and other apparatuses made of steel or wood to achieve proper installation
• Crane signaling
• Rigging with fabric and steel chokers to fly with crane
• Operation of heavy machinery (Fork lift, sky trak, man basket, scissor lift)
• Cutting, throwing, and fastening decking
• Band saw, cold saw, drill press, hydraulic ironworker
• Grinder, hand drills/drivers, circular skil saw, sawzall, mag drill
• Wedges, come alongs, chainfalls, eyelets
• Rate: $23 per hour
