
I am a RN with 30 years of LPN experience. Throughout my career I have held a variety of positions exposing me to many different aspects of nursing. From Geriatrics, Clinical, Correctional, OR and Administrative positions.
Prepared operating room by ensuring sterility and organization of instruments. Assisted surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and providing necessary supplies. Monitored patient vitals and maintained safety throughout surgical interventions. Collaborated with surgical team to optimize workflow and communication in the operating room. Educated patients on preoperative and postoperative care procedures for informed consent. Documented patient information accurately in electronic health records during operations. Maintained aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
Since obtaining my RN I've been working as the OR Inpatient Pre Op Nurse. This has included reviewing charts for history and physicals, current labs, ekg's and X Rays. Obtaining reports and verifying surgical and anesthesia consents. Once the patient is in holding I proceed with all of the pre operative charting, prepping when needed and monitoring the patient.

I held the position of Building Nurse, running sick call, passing medications, providing wound care to adult inmates both male and female. Also worked with juvenile program, doing intakes, sick call, STD counseling overseeing the medical program for the S.T.A.R. Program.

I have 4 years of Correctional experience ranging from adults to youth programs. Coordinating sick call, medication administration etc. I presently work in the Operating Room assisting Anesthesia with intubations, extubations, order and stock all supplies, help circulators and surgical tech's with opening sterile supplies etc. Have had some experiences scrubbing in cases and retracting and holding for the surgeon. I have also monitored and charted on patients undergoing local anesthesia procedures. I am responsible for obtaining inpatient reports from the floors, verifying consents have been obtained and any abnormal labs have been addressed. Recently I've had the opportunity to train under our PACU nurse and learn more about the recovery of the patient while I was in school.
