I am a professional nurse with 43 years of experience. Primarily my work has been with adults both in facilities for long-term care and skilled nursing care in rehab. I have experience in home health care case management, home care for hospice case management. Most recently, I was the night RN supervisor at Kennebunk Ctr for health and rehab, from which I retired in February 2025. Since taking my retirement, I have focused on family care, and homeschooling my middle-school aged son. During the summer, I worked at a local waterpark providing pool supervision to ensure a safe and happy experience for the customers. I am now ready to start sharing my time and skills with patients again.
I feel that one of my strongest skills is genuine care for those I am caring for, as well as their loved ones Education can help to resolve anxiety regarding any tests or treatments the patient may need, and I have found that patients' healing rate can be accelerated once they understand how to manage their care, and involve family members in the education process also so the patient has knowledgeable support even when medical staff is not immediately available
Technical skills include computer use for EMR, IV management with or without pumps, wound care, preventative skin care, medication administration using a variety of routes I am able to perform phlebotomy as needed I directly supervised the care aides provided residents of any facility, teaching where necessary in order to improve the patient experience and outcome
As in any patient care situation, I communicate with the patient, their specified family member, other staff of the facility, and the primary physician to facilitate safe and consistent care for the patient, with the goal of providing best care
Supervisory experience included communication with the rest of any homecare patient team, education to facility staff providing care to hospice patients, providing emotional support for patients and their loved ones and ensuring that the patient's wishes for their own care are supported, all while protecting patient's privacy as per federal regulations
I have a 3 year old golden retriever, Joy, who is a service dog for me. She has been specifically trained to provide a service for me. She provides her service for me, but has also been trained to be friendly to people when I give her permission to greet them.
