In addition to my work and education, I have a solid background in community involvement . As a long time trustee of the Scranton Public Library, a board member of the Friends of the Weinberg Library, a volunteer with the Scranton. Shakespeare Festival, and currently a member of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, where I commit two days a week serving families In need at St. Joseph's Baby Panty, I believe in a strong culture of improving the quality of life in the Scranton area by lending my knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to the above institutions.
Served as Department Chair for all tenure track professional librarians, overseeing hiring, promotion and tenure procedures and represented colleagues to University Administration. Also generated annual reports for department. Coordinated staffing of the Reference Desk and provided Information Literacy sessions to students in specific academic departments As well as general orientation for students and faculty.
Oversaw building operations for evening and weekend ho at University library while offering reference services to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Also coordinated work study students and support staff during evening hours.
Worked under a federal grant to develop a collection for local businesses to assist in expansion of their products and services in state and national arenas. I also worked part-time as a reference librarian, reader's service librarian, and children's librarian at the same library after the grant ended.
