Jewelry Design and Production

Denise Betesh Studios
Santa Fe, NM
09.2006 - 06.2013

Fabricated 22 karat gold jewelry using the delicate and detailed process of granulation, an ancient technique in which gold is milled and drawn either to form a design or hold a gemstone. The granules are then fused onto the metal surface using only heat, rather than solder.

Created a database of existing and new techniques. Fabrication required many steps (and many hours) and consistency was very important. The processes had not been documented up to that point.
