Prior to teaching, I worked for 11 years in a grocery retail environment, gaining experience in stocking, merchandising, inventory management, and cross-department operations. I was trained in cash office procedures, including till reconciliation, safe balancing, and preparation of nightly deposits, ensuring strict adherence to financial handling protocols and accuracy standards. I maintained this position while completing my undergraduate college degree and during the first three years of my teaching career, demonstrating strong time management and reliability.
From August 2022 through March 2023, I utilized FMLA leave to serve as the primary caregiver for my mother. My responsibilities included coordinating and transporting her to medical appointments, meal preparation, and providing comprehensive assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including but not limited to housekeeping, bathing, toileting, and managing her medical needs.
In June 2025, I retired early from teaching special education after 38 years of service.
