  • As well as running an orthopedic service line which requires working closely with providers, reps, and other departments to find and onboard new supplies and equipment. Maintain provider preference cards. Picking and organizing supplies, instruments, and necessary equipment for elective, urgent, and emergent procedures. Initiating projects with other departments, such as house keeping and sterile processing, to improve patient care and satisfaction.

  • My main priority as a TLAP was patient care while obtaining specimens needed for care and treatment
  • I drew blood via venipuncture, capillary, and arterial sites
  • I processed samples starting with handoff from patients or medical staff, entered orders for all lab departments using Meditech, and then ensured delivery to proper departments within the lab or aliquoted samples to be sent out to reference labs across the country
  • I worked closely with all levels of medical staff, most closely with Clinical Lab Scientists and nursing personnel
  • I worked in outpatient settings for over one year full time
  • While working in outpatient I assisted the lab in improving their patient satisfaction scores by implementing many new processes and procedures
  • I worked as an inpatient TLAP for over 2 years full and part time
  • As an inpatient TLAP I would work shifts starting as early as 0430
  • Morning rounds would consist of drawing patients in their room before doctors would be in for their rounds
  • I drew as many as 25-30 morning draws when the hospital was full
  • The rest of the days shifts would consist of prioritizing draws that were timed and that would be ordered through-out the day as well as drawing the Emergency Room, and processing samples that would come into the lab via handoff, dropoff, or pneumatic tube system
  • As well as answering multiline phones where I would answer patient questions or transfer to someone that could help
  • Also working with mobilab and meditech systems to order and process labs
