Treated orthopedic and neurologically impaired patients in outpatient settings.
Worked with management and current staff to develop the Houston Hand Program. Provided mentoring for new hand therapists who are now certified in Hand Therapy. Continued relationships with physicians from the Texas Medical Center while developing new relationships with local hand surgeons. Renewed interest in scholarly pursuits; including assisting with continuing education course development at HealthSouth.
I worked in the inpatient acute care the first year. Then transferred to outpatient clinic where I specialized in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. I developed the hand rehabilitation program. I worked with PM&R and hand surgeons in developing specialized protocols and hand programs. I provided splint training for occupational therapist working inpatient areas. Earned my Certification in Hand Therapy credential in November 2001.
