Work History

First Year Student Success Coach

City Year Sacramento
10.2023 - 06.2024
  • Assisted 19 2nd graders in the year 2024.
  • In January I volunteered at the MLK March, I was assigned to supervize the people marching in a safety team.
  • Facilitated small groups up to 4-6 students building their foundational skills in Math and the same for ELA comprehension and fluency in reading.
  • In September at the Oak Park there happened two events, the Sacramento Literacy Festival and the Foods Market Park. I was placed in a team that directed drivers where to park for pick-ups and the volunteers from the Literacy Festival.

Second Year Student Success Coach

City Year Sacramento
08.2024 - Current
  • I collaborate with the team by having meetings every week on any day. We communicate about initiating recess activities for upcoming month celebrations for example Women’s History Month and/or Easter. We go through reminders like build friendships with the students.
  • I regularly engage in small groups of up to 3-6 students in class working on fluent and independent reading. I am able to see their growth in fluently reading. For an example before they struggled with certain words they were not able to read but by going through lessons and learning to recognize the sounds and letter patterns they now can read with out struggle.
  • I have led numerous recess initiatives alsong side my coworkers almost every month. The number of initiatives in every month typically is 4-5. The majority of the students who benefit from these initiatives depend on the number of their grades. For example, for the 1st and 2nd graders it will be up to 15 participating while for the 3rd and 6th graders, it goes down to 7.
  • I helped coach 23 1st graders to improve their social-emotional skills by teaching them skills like empathy, boundaries and listening.
