Accomplishments

  • Started the Prison Puppy program at Leader Dog which became an award winning program in 2013
  • Managed the development of the Dog Trainer Professional Course for Inmate Puppy Raisers.

  • Wrote a script for a video for puppy raisers. Orchestrated all volunteers, scenes and outcomes along with the film crew.

  • Developed a volunteer program for volunteers to work directly with dogs and puppies in training
  • Developed an evaluation tool for puppy raisers to follow during the raising of their puppy called the In For Training Assessment - IFT. It included a written document, video samples and 75 volunteers trained to be able to assess a puppy prior to return for formal training.
  • Developed a robust volunteer program to oversee all puppy raisers. Puppy Counselors are dedicated volunteers who run class, assess and give updates to Leader Dog staff on progress of puppies each month.
  • Developed and oversaw the annual training for Puppy Counselors. This 2.5 day intensive training annually was to improve the skills of Puppy Counselors.
  • Dog Writer Award through AKC for articles written in a dog publication. 2002
