During my employment at Energy Weldfab I was lucky enough to work closely with Texas Workforce Solutions and coordinate two new employee programs for my company. First I created an internship program with Workforce Solutions. This allowed our company to have the intern for 6-8 weeks at no cost to us. We trained the interns in various job positions within the shop and warehouses. I was responsible for completing paperwork and evaluations for the interns. This was turned into Workforce Solutions for the interns to be paid. At the end of the internship my company could decide to hire the intern full time or not.
The second program was an on the job training with classroom curriculum for welders and fitters. I had to create the curriculum with an instructor as well s evaluation points for the training. The Workforce Solutions would provide all tools and equipment each student needed. Also during this 16 week training program the Workforce Solutions paid 50 % of the students hourly pay and Energy Weldfab paid the other 50 %. This program was nominated and won the Small Employer of the Year in 2016 with the Texas Workforce Solutions.
