  • Desired locations: United States - TX - Fort Worth, Hours per week: 40 Series: 6941 Pay Plan: KG Grade: 5 Currency Shipment Checker/Processor (This is a federal job) Supervisor: James Weaver (817-847-3608) Okay to contact this Supervisor: Yes I work as a checker and processor in support of the currency production processes in the Currency Overprinting and Packaging Equipment (COPE) and Mechanical Examination sections of the Western Currency Manufacturing Facility.
  • I am responsible for the inventory on finished currency transferred to my section.
  • I pull the finished product using a Toyota forklift.
  • I set the skids in order from 1 through 10.
  • The 50 and 100 dollar denominations are only 5 skids.
  • 1's, 5's, 10's, 20's, are 10 skids.
  • Plus the A-3 skid has to be on top of the A-1 skid.
  • I use the brick to put it in cash pack form by following the sequential order, which is using brick numbers and follow serial numbers on the section.
  • Once the process is set up I began to correlate the bricks.
  • Once the bricks are in Cash Pack form I push them down the shrink wrap press.
  • While I am collating the bricks I examine the currency for notes of bricks and check package torn notes, cut offs and other defects.
  • Once the bricks are in sequential order I begin to push them through the shrink wrap processors.
  • The press consists of 3 conveyor belts, a heating tunnel, 2 pack compressors, a spool of wrapping film, rollers to run the film through and a form box and back label machine.
  • The palletizer stacks the cash packs on the skid, 40 packs per skid.
  • I also use a computer program called the logitec labeling system which provides me to generate the cash pack bank labels and destination labels.
  • Another part of my responsibility is prepare shipments for the Federal Reserve vault.
  • Each shipment is determined by the process, quantity, and destination.
  • There are two kinds of shipments, road and air shipments.
  • The smaller denominations are for the road and larger denominations are for the air for the most part.
  • I perform all of these duties with little to no supervision on a daily basis.

  • I stacked only sheets of bricks onto two separate skids A-1 and A-3 in sequential order.
  • The A-3 skid was stacked on top of the A-1 skid.
  • Once the skids must complete installed a security seal onto each skid that had ratchet straps around them.
  • All were annotated onto a skid tag with date, seal number and initials, then were placed into Federal Reserve vault staging area.
  • I also supplied the press with items such as rags, mineral spirits, tag ink, number block ink, Isomet, clear film wrap, skids, tops, and examined blank cope loads.
  • I was able to account for supplies and duties without receiving instructions from my supervisor.

  • Hours per week: 40 Series: 0001 Pay Plan: KG Grade: 3 Printing Plant Worker (This is a federal job) Supervisor: Tony Maniaci (817-847-3600) Okay to contact this Supervisor: Yes The first thing I would do was to make an assessment of what I needed for the press whether I was on the backs or the faces.
  • The items I needed I would replenish, such as crane paper loads, rags, ink, treys, mineral spirits, stack and rack carts, rack out boards, etc.
  • and then would move onto my duties.
  • I would stack 10,000 loads consisting of back and face currency sheets for the press and fill out the correct load cards.
  • I would first start out with the lowest number and work in numerical order.
  • we have signed off load tickets with my initials and date when breaking seals and strapping finished loads off the press.
  • Also, we have to filled out reports which beginning and ending fountain sheet mutts.
  • These numbers were used for spoilage and accountability.
  • When loads were finished they have to strapped and sealed with correct load tags and documentation, then transferred into the Work In Progress (WIP) cage for three days , so the loads in the save the stage in the cage in the security .
  • I also was able to receive training on the jogger/aerator machine.
  • Managed time efficiently in order to complete all tasks within deadlines.

  • This machine utilizes vibrations and air to jog paper and relieve repetitive movement.

Additional Information

  • I was awarded a "certificate of appreciation" for excellent workmanship. My experience was working with the instructor on tooling and bonding, fabrication composites, learning how to drill hole reams, rivets, guns and drilling machines. I used rulers, dial calipers for metric measurement on screens and blue prints. I compared airframe power plant composites, and used gauges to meet specification planning orders. Also, I used micrometers, scales when working with aluminum and titanium composites for production.
