Unity, Belonging, and Student Efficacy Lead (Fayette County School district program)
Fayette County created a position at each school where the mission is to unify and elevate each schools community with a strategic focus on historically marginalized groups (i.e Black History Month, Women's History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Native American History Month)
Planned and lead monthly meetings with the Unity committee at TCE to come up with ideas to unite our school and ensure that it is equitable for every student. We plan one multicultural night a year along with our cultural cookbook that we made as a school for the past two years that is available in multiple languages. We collected recipes from families that represent their cultures and created a schoolwide cookbook that was translated into Swahili, Spanish, French, Nepali, and Arabic. We did this to be inclusive and give everyone equitable access.
Communicated with staff monthly about traditions and holidays. Prepared resources for the teachers such as read alouds, videos, whole group activities, and independent activities to integrate into the classwork.
