Work History

State Trooper

Tennessee Highway Patrol
11.2022 - Current
  • During my daily duties I conduct field interviews with drivers and passengers during each traffic stop.
  • During some of those traffic stops I conducted over 50 DUI investigations that lead to arrests and convictions.
  • Other daily duties consist of investigating traffic crashes. From some crashes being very minor to other resulting in criminal charges such as DUI.
  • I have also investigated multiple fatal crashes. One has resulted in Vehicular Homicide charges that I presented to a Grand Jury.
  • Exercised sound judgment under high-pressure situations such as performing high-speed vehicle pursuits and making critical decisions to apprehend criminal suspects.
  • Served as a mentor to new recruits, sharing knowledge of department protocols and providing guidance during field training exercises. Coached them through the tough times of the Academy and helped them prepare for what the job is like on day to day basis.
  • Identified controlled substances and contraband by conducting comprehensive searches of people and property. I have located multiple different types of controlled substances and other drugs during vehicle searches and person searches.
  • Prepared cases for court and regularly testified for preliminary hearings.
  • Collaborated with fellow officers to respond efficiently and effectively to emergency situations such major vehicle crashes. Communicated with the other units that were responding to effectively clear the roadway as quickly as possible.
  • While investigating a 30 vehicle crash during inclement weather, I was able to handle the pressure of getting all passenger information, locating occupants that were already transported to the hospital and clearing the roadway as quickly as possible.
  • Performed rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters by directing traffic and administering emergency medical aid. Multiple major vehicle crashes have happened right in front of me with roll overs, where I have been the first on scene to have to extricated the passenger's trapped inside the vehicle as safely as I could.
  • Have investigated multiple hit and run crashes and locating suspects that left the scene that resulted in arrests.
  • Monitored crowded public areas and events to mitigate risk and promote safety such as the inauguration.
  • Monitored traffic violations, issuing citations as necessary.
  • Responded to emergency calls to provide assistance to citizens in need, such as major vehicle crashes or vehicle fires. Have also responded to domestic situations.
  • Participated in continuous firearms proficiency, we have to qualify twice a year. We do daylight and low light qualifications.
  • Supported successful investigations, for example another Vehicular Homicide that involved 4 Juveniles. I had to conduct face to face interviews with two of the juveniles to get more information of the events that occurred leading up to the vehicle crash. Collected video evidence from a gas station to determine a time frame for the events and criminal violations.
  • I have conducted surveillance of traffic looking for violations. I have also conducted surveillance at the Governors residence.
