1 Year- My technical job title is Floor Person. I do quality control audits on playing cards that are sent to casinos. This requires attention to detail, time management, use of Microsoft Excel, extensive knowledge of Us Playing Card Company's computer program (SAP), and understanding the process as a whole to ensure that our casino customers are receiving a quality product in a timely fashion.
Line Cook
2 Months- Shift was all about speed and accuracy. The restaurant is centered around large parties and the patrons of Hillcrest Golf and Country Club. Shift has an extensive menu; they offered everything from steaks and fish to burgers and wraps. Burgers and steaks are cooked to order which requires knowing the temperature scale (rare to well done). The chicken tenders, the fried chicken sandwiches, fish and chips, fish sandwiches and fried pickles are all hand breaded. All the variety that Shift offers, line cooks are trained on deep fryers, a flat top grill, gas burners a flame grill and ovens. I was the closing cook so I also had the responsibilities of cleaning and stocking for the morning shift. Furthermore, I was often closing without a scheduled dishwasher, so during the weekdays I would also close the dish area.
Building Services
8 Months- I was a janitor at Miami University in the Goggin Ice Center. The training consisted of learning and testing about all the chemicals and equipment we use during a shift. My primary function is cleaning their “B-Pad” which is the secondary ice rink. Performed standard cleaning tasks such as picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning sinks, showers, and commodes, while also deep cleaning my section weekly with a Kaivac. My work, however, is not limited to my section of locker rooms. I am also responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of their Club Lounge (a large rentable room), and the offices of all our upper management. Working as a team with my co-worker we also upkeep the main stands for all Varsity hockey games.
Load/Unload
1 Year- Thrived in fast-paced, high-energy environment. We would have 16 trucks to unload: Sorted stacked floor mats into standard and extraction categories. Then we remove all the soiled linen and sort them as well. This is the process of the most involved because of how many different categories there are. Sorted dirty linen into carts up to 235lbs and loaded them for transport to Milford, OH (3x per shift). The loading is exactly that. Depending on the customers and routes we would fill all 16 trucks and have the drivers ready for their routes.
