Research Experience
- Under the supervision of Dr. Joanna Sztuba-Solinska at Auburn University, utilized recombinant DNA techniques to construct plasmid and bacmid vectors, as well as introduce these vectors to existing cell lines and validate successful transformation or transfection. Cell lines were carefully maintained for short and long term use. These cell lines will be used in further projects by other lab members to study the structure and function of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) polyadenylated nuclear (PAN) lncRNA.
- Completed a collaborative research course in which students formulated a research question, outlined an experimental design, and fully carried out a protocol to create novel IGF1 protein samples to be given to collaborators in Dr. Tonia Schwartz's lab for further use in studying IGF1 binding affinity with the IGF1 receptor in anoles. Molecular biology techniques such as bacterial transformation, plasmid purification, high-fidelity PCR, auto-induction, and SDS-PAGE were used.
