Accomplishments

Accomplishments
  • Strategic Planning – Work with business leaders and sales teams to develop a plan to improve margins while maintaining volume at production plants. Based on sales, long term planning, and costing, we could streamline materials across the region and allow for larger material runs, lower cost, and more profit. This also enables us to react quickly to changes in the marketplace that might require pricing concessions to take market share. All of this was done while providing some level of transparency to our key customers in order to maintain and grown the business.
  • Price Modeling. WSP’s IT organization needed a new financial model. Rolled out consistent financial structure to allow for easy global consolidation while allowing flexibility to meet specific needs for each region. Established a “Per PC” chargeback model, establishing project standards for labor, hardware, software & services.
  • Manage Complex Budgets. Worked to manage a $1B annual budget across 6 towers and 25-30 tracking variables within each tower. The overall budget came in within 3% of target and no tower was off by more than 5%. Established monthly dashboards to identify areas of risks and opportunities by tower and by variable that could be consolidated for executive presentations
  • Establishing Value Add Initiatives. Certain packaging will be more expensive but will save more money within a customer supply chain. Worked with sales and directly with multiple customers to walk through the savings so that they understand the financial benefit. This approach allows us to find true partners who want to collaborate with us and allows DS Smith to improve margins while still bringing significant benefit to our customers.
  • Commercial Finance – Developed budgets at the customer/sales pro level by working with each sales agent to determine areas of opportunity and risk. Ultimately, this gives each sales pro a way to look at their specific customer group and see where they stand on a monthly basis and where they need to partner with commercial finance to improve their position
  • Mitigate Risk. Project delivery was often missed for IBM clients when hardware was custom built. Established project standards and new process to enable some inventory to be kept onsite, ensuring delivery deadlines were met. Increased customer satisfaction, generating additional business and revenue. Process rolled out globally.
  • Established Best Practices. Each line of business at IBM had their own project reporting procedure. Collaborated with PMs, vendors, and clients to develop a consolidated dashboard. Provided summary and detailed information throughout the project life cycle. Identified and escalated potential issues, mitigating delivery and billing issues.
  • Created Internal Structure – Built out new cost center structure for Cigna contract which helped align reporting standards, quickly pull information for senior management, and allowed for growth as the business expanded to new products and locations.
