Manage the Buildings and Grounds Department to ensure proper maintenance of buildings, grounds, and vehicles, and provide a safe campus environment for students, employees, and visitors.

Supervise, hire, train, direct, monitor, and evaluate the activities of 6 full time employees and up to 15 student workers.

Provide a physical plant that is attractive to all constituents.

Develop budgets for day-to-day operations, as well as long-range budgets for capital improvements and deferred maintenance projects.

Assist the VP of Administration and Finance in developing short and long range plans for construction, renovation, beautification and maintenance of the campus in accordance with approved designs and in coordination with professionals such as architects, designers, and consultants.

Design, budget, and implement outdoor living areas such as patios and planting beds. Responsible for all tree plantings, trimming, and maintenance.

Assist the Director in all above related items

• Design, or assist in the design of, enhanced and/or new landscaped areas and oversee the installation of all plantings (trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.) on University property.
• Develop and implement grounds maintenance schedules, including but not limited to fertilization, weed control, pruning, seasonal flower beds and pest management.
• Perform grounds work, including but not limited to planting and mowing lawns, irrigation, raking leaves, picking up trash, sweeping sand, etc.
• Remove snow and ice using any of the following: hand shovels and/or ice scrapers, power snow blowers, vehicle-mounted plows, blowers or brushes, and de-icing chemicals or salt.
• Coordinate and oversee campus grounds and landscape work with outside vendors and contractors.
• Maintain all tools and equipment needed; keep all work areas clean and safe.
