My interest in applying for the AFMO position to advance my career and increase my contribution with the DNRC. I also feel in my three years of working for the DNRC I have developed skills that I can sharpen and use to develop others. Transitioning to the AFMO position would allow me to demonstrate my current skills and continue to develop new skills to increase my contribution to the DNRC. I am willing and always excited to learn new skills, take on more responsibility, and continue to learn from the great resources around me.
Responsibilities: Learn how to fight wildfires safely,
clean shop, clean our fire shop, thinning projects
Responsibilities: Engine Assignment (1 truck, one
firefighter), leading into a fire, and instruction on
how safely accomplish their duties
I was responsible of the Deer Lodge Men's Prison
20 Inmate crew. Gained experience with fire
activity, how to effectively communicate with
others, lead multiple people, and conflict
resolution. Most valuable experience was finding
ways to earn people's respect and trust in my
skills and abilities.
Over the years, I have developed my communication skills, particularly with the prison crew and supervisors on multiple fire deployments. I have learned to communicate on a professional level.
I have experience leading multiple groups. I was the Captain of my cross country team in high school, which was my first leadership role. At the DNRC, I became a leader to new crew members and led a 20 person prison crew on three different fire assignments. These opportunities tested and furthered the development of my leadership skills.
