I am a charismatic, enthusiastic teacher with 24 years of teaching experience. I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade and ESL. The majority of my experience is in 4th grade math. I have taught in the self-contained classroom for many years as well. I am committed to providing students with the necessary tools that will help them develop and grow, not only academically, but socially as well. I have the experience and understanding of what is needed to help children find success in their everyday lives. Adapting very well to change, I am excited about the opportunity to work with students in a different capacity. Differentiation is key to student learning, and I drive my instruction using data. By keeping and maintaining data folders for each student, I am able to track growth and strengths. Data allows me to help meet all student needs, including those with 504 accomodations. Because I have taught 3rd and 4th grade for many years, I am very familiar with the preparation needed to help our students succeed and show mastery on all TEKS. I have created and put together an extensive spiral review of objectives for 4th grade math that has been used in our grade level for many years. It has proven to be successful in seeing students grow, and I believe that the curriculum has increased the MAPS test scores for many struggling students. I am GT certified, and I have taught in the GT classroom as well. I understand the needs of GT students and, I love to create an environment where these kids can be creative and innovative. My current school is Title 1, and I absolutely love the environment in which I teach. The majority of my time teaching has been at Title 1 schools. I appreciate and have such a sense of pride when I reflect on my years investing in relationships and seeing children grow. As I am retiring this year, my love of teaching and helping students grow will always be my passion and desire.
Lastly, I am committed to student success, and I look forward to the opportunity to teach in such a well respected district.
