Special Enforcment Team (SET) Alternate

  • Conduct surveillance of crime at targeted locations for both the interdiction of illicit narcotics activity and property crimes
  • Engage in proactive policing strategies and street crimes-level investigations in order to mitigate, prevent and deter criminal activity in the district through targeted enforcement and impactful arrests
  • Conduct targeted details and operations based on crime trends and analysis
  • Respond and focus on intelligence reports, tips and complaints of suspected criminal activity generated by both citizens and road patrol deputies
  • Conduct field interviews and gather street-level intelligence to assist detectives and investigators in solving past crimes by identifying suspects and developing actionable leads
  • Work in conjunction with CID, COPS, FWB and VNB to identify and apprehend subjects involved in criminal activity
  • Assist in coordinating quarterly SET meetings to provide valuable information to other districts
  • Support patrol deputies with drug identification, field testing and evidence packaging procedures during traffic stops or arrest situations involving suspected narcotics violations
  • D4 SET liaison with State Probation which have resulted in several successful narcotic arrests during home checks
  • D4 SET Liaison with VNB detectives to provide, obtain and compare narcotic information received


During my time as a SET Alternate, I have worked closely with Detectives from the Vice Narcotics Bureau and have assisted with the following:


  • Recovered significant quantities of illegal drugs and contraband by conducting traffic stops on known persons of interests or vehicles coming from targeted locations
  • Developed intelligence leads through confidential informants, enabling successful arrests and convictions of high-profile narcotics offenders
  • Assisted VNB with search warrants and multiple trash pulls at known narcotics residences
  • Identified and apprehended narcotics offenders by conducting thorough investigations, undercover operations, and surveillance techniques
  • Secured numerous informants who've provided valuable information about drug activities which have been forwarded to VNB
  • Assisted VNB detectives with undercover buys
  • Familiarized myself with known narcotic persons of interests, their associates and their vehicles
  • Participated in several Highway Interdiction Operations
  • Utilized advanced technology tools, such as license plate readers and surveillance cameras, to monitor narcotic persons of interest
