  • Ogden City Police officer for 20 years and eleven months after graduating from the Utah Peace Officer Standard and Training Academy in August of 1999. Spent five years as a patrolman preparing my career path in law enforcement.
  • 2005, reached the rank of Master Officer and took on the role of a Field Training Officer.
  • February 2006, selected for the Apprentice Program and served three months with the Weber Morgan Narcotics Strike Force. August 2006, accepted a full-time position with the Weber Morgan Narcotics Strike Force as a narcotics investigator. Spent five years as an agent with the narcotics unit, where I learned valuable search and seizure laws, utilized blueprint, schematics, and aerial photographs for executing numerous search warrants. Worked several cases in an undercover capacity.
  • 2011, transferred to the FBI/NUCAT position as an investigator, where I assisted the FBI with bank robbery investigations and fugitive arrests in Utah's Northern Counties.
  • 2012, returned to Ogden Police Department and was assigned acting Sergeant on a patrol squad for approximately six to eight months. During the time as acting Sergeant, I assisted with responding to high-priority calls or incidents warranting a supervisor on scene.
  • 2013, I was re-assigned to the Weber Morgan Narcotics Strike Force as the Project Safe Neighborhood coordinator (PSN). As a detective/liaison in this assignment I assist the ATF in the evidence gathering and filing case federally on violent felons found in possession of firearms unlawfully. I developed an excellent working relationship with the County Attorney's and the United States Attorney's office. Over the four years I was assigned to this position, I investigated, reviewed, and screened approximately 90 potential federal cases. I was assigned to be an evidence custodian in conjunction with this assignment and was responsible for the storage of hundreds of seized firearms. Specific technical orders were put in place by the ATF, due to such a large quantity of firearms being seized as evidence for potential federal cases. My duel assignment with the ATF and Weber Morgan Strike Force came with multiple assignments such as certified to dismantle methamphetamine labs as well as being Site Safety in order to oversee the dismantling of the labs.
  • Learned a great deal about courtroom demeanor and how to testify in State and Federal court. Testified numerous times in front of Grand Juries for the purpose of indicting Federally prosecutable cases.
  • Field Training Officer for the Weber Morgan Strike Force. Developed a training program for the newly appointed agents.

As part of being a supervisor over this program, I was responsible for deploying surveillance cameras, troubleshooting computer program issues, managing all video footage storage, maintaining a quality program through a digital View Commander, and purchasing surveillance cameras through SVCI Tactical. I was also the manager of the Vehicle Tracker Program through Covertrack.
  • December 2017, I returned to Ogden Police Department as an acting Sergeant over a patrol squad. I remained as an acting Sergeant for five months and, in April 2018, was assigned as a permanent Sergeant over a graveyard Squad until I retired February 2021. A graveyard Sergeant holds a unique assignment because after 0200 hours every night, the graveyard Sergeant becomes the Duty Officer/Lieutenant and responsible for the entire city until 0700 hours when a Lieutenant signs on. Part of my patrol Sergeant's duties are to carry out daily briefings and trainings, which consist of department policy reviews and case law updates. Also, I manage monthly vehicle inspections and quarterly/yearly evaluations based on department performance standards. There are also minimum manning requirements for patrol shifts that I am required to maintain daily. As a patrol Sergeant, I was responsible for documenting use of force, vehicle pursuit, and policy violations through an after-action review program.
