I started McQueen Transportation in 2017, I started with one truck as a owner operator. Learning the ropes, self dispatching, safety regulations and industry skills needed. Some I previously had from my position as a certified DOT inspector. I had some great mentors, my father who had been a truck driver for 30 years, some great guys from Quest global and other bossiness owners that coached me along the way.
Through out 2018 I added two trucks and came off the road to run the business. I managed all aspects of the business, including the financials, dispatching , route planning, negotiating rates, maintenance, load acquisition and client relations. In the first calender year we grossed 1.3M.
In 2019 we added another two trucks and a dispatching service we offered 3rd party trucking companies. Are main job was acquiring loads, negotiating good rates, as well as scheduling and route planning. Tracking and clear communication was key to this success.
In late 2019 I was contacted by The Seymour Group, they had noticed are success and growth. After talking to them we decided to brake into the brokerage side of industry. This helped us cover are existing direct clients while continuing to grow. Up to this point are success had been great.
2020-2021 was a rough time for allot of people. Are company included. When states started implementing mandatory shut downs for all non essential workers it hit us hard. As the majority of the fleet was flatbed. Which unlike refrigerated, flatbed had been hit hard. The reason being construction and most manufacturing was considered non essential. I fought to keep the trucks moving but with falling rates and less work we had to down size.
In 2022 I made the decision to get rid of the trucks and since that time Iv focused on the brokering side of the industry.
In 2024 my Broker associate The Seymour Group abruptly sold with no notice. This put me and my customers in a tight spot, as
i wasn't able to cover there loads for two weeks. As I negotiated and worked out a new contract with Manco Logistics my current brokerage associate. Understandably this upset my customers, causing them backlogs and delays. Some of who I was able to retain but others had moved on in this period.
Iv struggled to acquire new clients with out the prior resource's and truck fleet. Since this time iv focused on providing the best service possible for my clients.
